In its journey since its inception in 1997 from a technical Institute to a Premier University, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) has come a long way within the shortest span of time. Spreading over 500 acres of prime land in 23 lush green sprawling campuses in a built-up area of 7.5 million square feet, KIIT harbours 28 constituent Schools offering more than 100 academic programmes with 25000 students pursuing doctoral degree, graduation and post-graduation studies in Engineering, Management, Rural management, MCA, Law, Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, MBBS, MD, BDS, Nursing, Fashion Technology, Cinema & Mass Media Studies, Language and Sculpture. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) became the youngest in the country to be awarded this status (u/s 3 of UGC Act of 1956), in 2004.

KIIT’s excellence is proven beyond apprehension; it’s granted ‘A’ Category status by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, and accredited by NAAC of UGC in ‘A Grade’. Its academic programmes are recognised by the respective Statutory Bodies of Govt. of India, and has received Tier 1 (Washington Accord) accreditation by NBA (AICTE) for engineering streams.

Academicians and scholars from around the world, including Nobel Laureates, are regular visitors to the university. Besides, Ramon Magsaysay Awardees, Ambassadors, renowned legal and management personalities regularly deliver special lectures here and interact with the students. Hosted by KIIT, as many as 18000 scientists from all over the world attended the prestigious 99th Indian Science Congress making the event a grand success.

Besides being a member of various prestigious world bodies, accreditation boards and associations like University Mobility Asia and the Pacific (UMAP), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and International Association of Universities (IAU), with more than 1800 academic and research staff, KIIT has established an academic partnership with more than 105 world class universities from across the globe.
